Agreed in writing, before you pay.
Booking here is by enquiry while a direct booking system is being set up, which means the cancellation terms for your stay are set out on your confirmation rather than by a page like this one.
How it works today
Nothing takes effect until it is written down.
When we come back to you with availability, the quote states the cancellation terms for those specific dates alongside the rate, the deposit and the balance date. You see them before any money moves, and they do not change afterwards.
Terms differ by date, which is why they are not one line on a page. A February midweek and Christmas week are not the same commitment for either side, and pretending otherwise with a single policy would mean setting it at the strictest end and applying that to everybody.
If your plans change, tell us early. A date moved six months out is usually a conversation rather than a cancellation, and we would far rather have that conversation than hold you to a night you cannot use.
The specifics
What is settled, and what is not.
- When terms are set
- On your written confirmation, before a deposit is paid. Never after, and never different from what you agreed.
- Changing dates
- Ask. Well ahead of a stay, and outside the peak weeks, moving dates is usually straightforward and we would rather do that than lose you entirely.
- Refund schedule
- The deadlines and percentages are set with the booking provider. They will be published here in full once that is chosen, and until then they are stated individually on every confirmation. (detail to be confirmed)
- Deposit
- Amount, timing and whether it is refundable are being finalised alongside the booking system. (detail to be confirmed)
- Holiday and peak weeks
- Christmas, New Year and March Break usually carry firmer terms than the rest of the year. Confirmed with your quote. (detail to be confirmed)
- If we have to cancel
- You get everything you have paid back in full, and we will help you find somewhere else. That one is not conditional on anything and does not need a booking engine to be true.
- Travel insurance
- Worth having for a booking of this size, particularly in winter. The weather here closes highways two or three times most seasons, and no policy we write covers that.
