About

Who you are actually writing to.

A short page about the house, the people behind it, and what happens after you send an enquiry. Some of it is not written yet, and it says which parts.

The building

Somebody meant this.

One thing is clear from the drive in: nobody built this house to a formula. Board-formed concrete left as it came out of the forms. Corrugated galvanised steel used inside bedrooms as a finish rather than hidden behind drywall. A porthole window on the front. An elevator, in a house. A roof turned into a terrace with turf, a hot tub and a fire on it.

Those are not the choices of someone building to resell. They cost more and they narrow the buyer. They are the choices of someone building the house they wanted on a piece of open ground with a view of the escarpment.

It is worth saying because it is what you feel when you stay somewhere, and it is not a finish level.

After you press send

What happens to your enquiry.

Booking is by enquiry while a direct system is being set up, so it is fair to want to know what that means in practice.

  1. A person reads it

Not a queue, not an auto-responder, and not a template that begins “thank you for your interest”. If you asked something specific about the house, the reply answers that specific thing.

  2. You get availability and a full quote

The nightly or weekly rate, the cleaning fee, the taxes and any deposit, all in one message. Nothing is added later. If the dates are gone we say so rather than proposing something you did not ask about.

  3. We tell you if it is the wrong house

If you need breakout rooms and AV, a resort will serve you better. If you want to walk to a beach, this is inland. If you are bringing a group larger than the house takes, we would rather say so in an email than have you find out on arrival. It is a smaller loss for us than a bad stay.

  4. Nothing is owed for asking

No deposit, no hold, no card. The terms for your dates are set out in writing before any money moves, and they do not change afterwards.

Direct, or a platform

Why write to us instead of clicking book.

A platform is easier. It has a calendar, a button, and a review score you can read in ten seconds, and we do not pretend otherwise.

What it does not have is anyone who can tell you which bedroom is nearest a bathroom, whether the elevator reaches the floor your mother needs, or what the road is like at eight on a Friday in February. Those answers come from someone who knows the building. On a platform you get a listing; here you get a reply.

There is a fee difference too. Guests pay a platform service charge on top of the nightly rate, and that does not exist in a direct booking. We are not going to dress that up as a guaranteed saving until direct booking is live and there is a published rate to compare against.

Still to come

What we will tell you once we can prove it.

Every hospitality site claims spotless housekeeping and a responsive host, usually before either is true. These go in one at a time, as they become facts.

Who owns it
The owner’s name and why the house exists, written with them rather than about them. (detail to be confirmed)
Who you reach
Whether a management company is involved day to day, and who picks up. Being confirmed. (detail to be confirmed)
Email and phone
A published address and number are coming. Until then the enquiry form is the way through, and it reaches a person. (detail to be confirmed)
Housekeeping
The actual turnover: linen, kitchen reset, bathrooms, who inspects it and when. Described as a process rather than claimed as a standard. (detail to be confirmed)
Reply times
Published once there is a real record to quote instead of an intention. (detail to be confirmed)
If something breaks at nine on a Saturday
Who comes out, and how fast. Being arranged. (detail to be confirmed)
Registration and zoning
Meaford regulates short-term rentals through its zoning by-law and ran a voluntary registry. This property’s position goes here once it is confirmed in writing by the municipality. (detail to be confirmed)
Reviews
None yet. The house has not been let before, so there is nothing real to show you, and we are not going to borrow praise from anywhere else. When there are reviews they will be attributed and unedited, including the ones we would rather not print.

How this site is written

If we have not checked it, it is not here.

You will notice things missing. There is no bed count, no maximum number of guests, no drive times to the ski hills. That is on purpose. Those are the details people plan around, and getting one wrong costs somebody a morning of their holiday.

So the site is built so an unconfirmed number cannot reach a page by accident. Every fact carries a status in the code behind it, and only the confirmed ones render. The rest show up as a note saying we are checking, which is what those grey blocks are throughout the site.

It reads as unfinished in places. It is unfinished in those places. We would rather you saw that than read a number somebody made up.

Ask us anything specific.

A real question gets a real answer, usually the same day. If the answer is that this is not the right house for your trip, you will get that too.
